Originally from the Donetsk region, Dmytro currently lives in Kyiv. He is a leading scholar at the Institute for Holodomor Research, doctor of historical sciences, professor, writer, and bandurist. As a lecturer at the Faculty of History of Donetsk State University in the beginning of the 1990s, the disintegration of the Soviet Union dramatically enlarged his research opportunities.
