She was born in 1955. She worked at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and dealt with the topic of anti-Soviet resistance of the 1920s and political repressions. She was the initiator of the Union of Belarusian Women in 1991.

After receiving her Ph.D. from the Institute of Organoelement Compounds of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow in 1979, she returned to her native town Vanadzor (then Kirovakan), where she worked in the All-Union Institute of Polymer Adhesives until 2000.
